Ben Shneiderman is a Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Founding Director (1983-2000) of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory, and a member of the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. He pioneered the highlighted textual link in 1983, and it became part of Hyperties, a precursor to the web. His move into information visualisation spawned the commercially successful Spotfire, known for pharmaceutical drug discovery and genomic data analysis.

Ben Shneiderman is the author of the breakthrough books, Software Psychology: Human Factors in Computer and Information Systems and Designing the User Interface: Strategies for Effective Human-Computer Interaction. His books are popular for his list of Eight Golden Rules of Interface Design which is frequently taught in Human-Computer Interaction courses.

Kurt Waltenbaugh is a serial entrepreneur with a career spent building solutions using data and to understand, predict, and influence consumer behavior. Kurt has built successful analytic solutions, products, and companies in the healthcare, retail, and education/credentialing industries. His previous companies were sold to Oracle (Texas), Pearson Education (London & New York), and Unite Us (New York).

Kurt helps organizations better understand consumer behavior through consulting and strategic advisory services at Kestrel Rising in Minneapolis. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Technology & Policy Studies from Carleton College.

Dr. David Townend is Professor of Health and Life Sciences Law and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the City Law School. His expertise lies in the key concepts of privacy, confidentiality, property, and the public interest, with a particular focus on personal data protection in health and life sciences research.

His work explores the interplay between Law, Ethics and Manners, and the application of politeness theory in governance. He is currently involved in projects developing healthcare apps (CARRIER and DACIL) and exploring Research Ethics Committee governance (iRECS). His research follows the socio-legal studies tradition, with significant emphasis on public engagement regarding key concepts in his field.

Previously, Dr. Townend was Professor of Health and Life Sciences Jurisprudence at Maastricht University (2014-2024) and worked at the University of Sheffield, where he was deputy director of the Sheffield Institute for Biotechnological Law and Ethics. He maintains numerous international research collaborations and has worked on projects funded by major funding bodies.

Professor Michael Kidd holds a joint appointment as Professor of Global Primary Care and Future Health Systems at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford, and as the inaugural Director of the Centre for Future Health Systems at the University of New South Wales in Australia.

His research interests span global health, primary care, digital health, mental health, health policy, and the education of health professionals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Australia, leading the nation's primary care response. Previously, he was the Foundation Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Family Medicine and Primary Care in Canada, and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Flinders University.

Professor Kidd served as President of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) from 2013 to 2016 and has been a consultant to the WHO, World Bank, OECD, and UNAIDS. He is the author of over 250 peer-reviewed publications and 20 books, and was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2023 for his contributions to medicine and education.
